The 1992 batch Assam-Meghalaya Cadre IAS officer Ashish Bhutani has been appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation. The order of his appointment was released on Saturday. He succeeds Gyanesh Kumar, who retired on 31st January 2024.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Mr. Bhutani’s appointment as the Secretary, an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.
Besides, Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies Vijay Kumar has been appointed as Chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India by temporarily upgrading the post.
Bhutani is an old hand as he served as Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies sometime in 2015. Bhutani was also CEO (PMFBY) & Joint Secretary (Credit), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has given the nod for the appointment of nine Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and a former IAS officer as secretaries in various ministries.
