BISCOMAUN Chairman Dr Sunil Kumar Singh, who was in Delhi attending a series of AGMs of national level co-ops including NAFED and Kribhco, rushed to Patna to preside over the 35th Annual General Meeting of the Bihar Co-op Marketing Federation on Tuesday.
A high-profile co-operator who enjoys ministerial status in the Bihar govt, Sunil had much good news to share with the delegates who had turned up in large numbers to attend the AGM.
Besides giving a detailed progress report of the malls and guesthouses being built by the Biscomaun in Bihar, Jharkhand and Delhi, the Chairman informed that the marketing co-op has more than tripled its profits this year.
He announced in the meeting that despite adverse market conditions, Biscomaun earned a net profit of 9.50 crore as on 31st March 2023, which is more than Rs 7 crore from the last year. During the year, Biscomaun sold fertilizers worth Rs 170 crore and did retail business worth Rs 22 crore, he added.
But most of all, BISCOMAUN was able to stabilize the prices of essential items for the common people with the help from NAFED, where Sunil is a Vice Chairman.
He also urged that if any of the PACS and FPOs want to provide pulses or onions to the general public at an affordable rate, they can get associated with the Biscomaun and start selling the same in their respective areas of operation.
On the construction front, Singh apprised the delegates of the progress of the Biscomaun Market Complex being built in Harnaut, construction of Biscomaun Mall in Deoghar going on in full swing and Biscomaun guest house at Delhi with 20 rooms with all top-class facilities will be completed within a year, he stated.
In the AGM, the General Body also passed the required amendments in the bylaws of BISCOMAUN to make it attuned with the recently passed MSCS 2023 Act with a voice vote.
On the fertilizer front, the Chairman admitted that there has been some shortage as Biscomaun gets fertilizer only from IFFCO. But things are sure to change from this year as Biscomaun is tying up with the govt company HURL for supplies of fertilizers, he assured.
Biscomaun Managing Director R P Singh presented the annual report before delegates which was unanimously passed.
On this occasion, more than 185 delegates from two states of Bihar andJharkhand had come. Representatives of about 18 DCCBs also participated in the event. Biscomaun Vice-President Gopal Giri
