G H Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Union, Ahmedabad has welcomed the passage of the MSCS Amendment Bill and said it will make the governance of Multi – State Co-operative Societies more democratic, transparent and accountable. It also seeks to reform the entire election process in co-operatives, he added.
Amin applauded the Bill and expressed sincere feelings of thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi and Hon’ble Union Minister of Home and Co-operation Shri Amitbhai Shah for taking initiative in passing the bill which will prove a game changer for the entire Co-operative Sector.
Setting up of Co-operative Election Authority, Co-operative Information Officer, Co-operative Ombudsman and Professional Management, Co-operative Rehabilitation Fund etc. are noteworthy provisions which will strengthen the co-operative movement in the country are major moves, said Amin.
The bill will now ensure the realisation of “Prosperity Through Cooperation ” , a vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi. The Amendment Bill thus seeks to prove pathbreaking for the development of co-operatives at grass root level in the rural areas, as envisaged by the Prime Minister.
Amin further stated that the amended act will make reforms to strengthen the co-operative principles of democratic member control, protect members’ interest, improve governance and enhance transparency.
