Balasaheb Thackeray has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of Nashik (Maharashtra) Zilla Sarkari and Parishad Karmachari Sahakari Bank, in an election held on Wednesday. Besides, Mahesh Mule was elected as his deputy.
Talking to Indian Cooperative soon after being elected as the Chairman of the bank, Thackeray said, “I am very thankful to the board members, who reposed faith in me and gave me such a big responsibility. I will work to take the bank to newer heights and meet the expectations of the members”.
“At present our deposits count around Rs 350 crore but we are eying to achieve a deposit base of Rs 500 crore in one year. Besides, we will also launch the campaign for making new members. With the help of 21 directors, we will make 2100 new members in the bank”, said Thackeray while highlighting his future strategies.
He further added, we would strengthen the internal system and upgrade the bank with the adoption of new technology. We are also aiming to open new branches with an objective to expand the network of the bank.
It is reported that one of the senior directors Nilesh deshmukh was also in the race for chairman but at the last moment, he changed his mind and gave way to Thackeray. The two directors of the bank namely Pramod Nirguade and Nilesh Deshmukh have been on the board for more than 15 years.
It bears recall that in the election of the bank, the Sahakar Panel led by the present board directors has ended the supremacy of the former board, which is said to have controlled the bank for more than two decades.
The bank has a business mix of more than Rs 500 crore and has a network of five branches in Nashik District.
