Maharashtra is bringing an ordinance to amend the co-op act in order to get rid of those who become members of co-operatives but remain non-active.
The State Governor has signed the Ordinance a fortnight ago, reports the Indian Express.
The ordinance defines a non-active member as the one who has not taken part in any AGM for the past five years.
Co-op sector is indeed burdened by those who do become members but do not take any interest in the co-op society’s activities, thereby making it possible by a few who begin to control the levers of co-op power.
It will be headache forUBCs to conduct AGMs.
Whether d said amendment applicable co op housing socities or only other co op organisations?
