Making the most of Union Minister Amit Shah’s presence at the NCUI headquarters on Wednesday, Biscomaun Chairman and Bihar’s strongman Sunil Kumar Singh sought model bylaws for co-operative banks on the lines of PACS.
Lauding PACS for being a tool of rural development, Sunil said that the new model laws are sure to catapult PACS into a new avatar. “I sought the Minister’s attention to DCCBs where CEOs are appointed by the local govts without keeping criteria in mind” said Sunil. “Can’t we have something like model PACS for DCCBs also across the country”, he added.
RBI’s Fit & Proper criteria should be adopted by DCCBs in appointing CEO, so that they are saved from the whims of local politicians, said Sunil adding “I was happy to see the Minister note my suggestion”.
On this occasion, Sunil also draped Amit Shah with a shawl made from the famous Madhuvani paintings.
Shah stayed for more than one and a half hours at the NCUI. He apprised the audience of the new initiatives taken by the ministry. He also encouraged co-operators to share feedback.
