The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has released Rs 10.17 crore to the employees of Fazilka (Ferozepur) Cooperative Sugar Mill, which had been stuck for nearly three years.
The Sugar Federation Chairman Navdeep Singh Jida, Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna, Sugar Fed MD Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu distributed cheques of pending salaries to the beneficiaries at a function held at the mill on Monday.
Addressing the participants, Sugarfed MD Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu said that for the first time, 70 percent payment has been made to the farmers in all the nine sugar mills of the state. Similarly, this time mills have been given a grant of Rs 126 crore instead of giving them loans by the government.
