Referring to high inflation in the dairy sector, in an interview with a leading English daily Amul MD J.Mehta said it was necessary as farmers had to pay more for feed and fodder.
Amul would soon diversify into non-dairy products like beverages and compete with companies like Nestle, Britannia, Coca-Cola and ITC, the Amul MD said.
He said dairy would remain Amul’s core, however. Amul is a Rs 61,000 crore brand and is owned by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.
