“TRIFED is not directly involved in the GI tagging process however, it encourages the tribal artisans in getting their products GI tagged for their promotion and marketing”, said Union minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh while giving a written reply to a query raised by Lok Sabha member Mohanbhai Kundariya.
Kundariya asked if the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) has proposed to get Geographical Indication (GI) tag for tribal products
Ms. Singh further added, “Pithora Painting from Chhota Udaipur District of Gujarat is GI tagged”.
