National Cooperative Union of India education wing NCCE Head Savitri Singh has now been promoted as the deputy Chief Executive of the apex body. The decision to promote her was taken in the board meeting held on Monday at Chandigarh.
When Indian Cooperative contacted Singh to congratulate her, she said she has also heard the news but does not have the details. “I am presently packing to return to Delhi and will react when I am there with all the details”, she added.
Savitri- an NCUI employee, had been on deputation to ICA AP for a number of years and it was only last year in April that she joined back her parent organization. Ever since she joined she had been active in various new initiatives launched by the apex co-op body.
Savitri’s long stint at ICA also proved useful for Indian cooperative fraternity whenever any of them contested in any of the global co-op elections. ICA AP President Dr Chandra Pal appreciated her effective campaigning for him when he himself contested the AP elections.
“As a deputy CE or deputy MD of the apex body, Savitri is more accessible to us co-operators due to her long association with the cooperative movement. We know her more closely than we know the current Chief Executive, an IAS who will take time to catch the nuances of the co-op movement”, said several co-operators when Indian Cooperative talked to them.
