In the 2020-21 FY, State Cooperative Banks (StCBs) and District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) performed well not only in controlling the NPA levels but also in increasing their deposits and loans and advances.
Besides, State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (SCARDBs) and Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (PCARDBs) also performed satisfactorily in the fiscal year 2020-21 on almost all the financial parameters.
The consolidated balance sheet of StCBs stood at Rs 3.77 lakh crore as of 31st March 2021. The StCBs earned a net profit of Rs 1,402 crore in the said financial year. Earlier i.e. in 2019-20, it was Rs 1,724 crore.
The deposits of the StCBs grew from Rs 2,10,342 crore (2019-20) to Rs 2,23,057 crore as of 31st March 2021 and loans of advances increased from Rs 1,99,943 crore (2019-20) to Rs 2,11,794 crore in the 2020-21 FY.
The net and gross NPA of the StCBs in 2020-21, 3.2 percent and 6.7 percent respectively. The total numbers of STCBs are 34 out of which 32 are in profit and 2 in loss as of 31st March 2021.
The deposits of banks grew from Rs 3,45,682 crore (2019-20) to Rs 3,81,825 crore as of 31st March 2021 and loans of advances rose from Rs 2,79,272 crore (2019-20) to Rs 3,04,990 crore in 2020-21.
The net and gross NPA of the DCCBs in 2020-21, 5.0 percent and 11.4 percent respectively. The total numbers of DCCBs are 351 out of which 308 registered profit and 43 were in loss as of 31st March 2021.
Similarly, the consolidated balance sheet of SCARDBs as of 31st March 2021 stood at Rs 27,275 crore. The deposits of these banks grew from Rs 2,409 crore (2019-20) to Rs 2,546 crore as of 31st March 2021, whereas loans and advances increased from Rs 20,704 crore to Rs 20,918 in the 2020-21 FY.
As of 31st March 2021, the deposits and loans outstanding of PCARDBs stood at Rs 1,429 crore and Rs 15,199 crore respectively. There are 603 PCARDBs but Nabard has the data of only 423 PCARDBs. Out of 423, 186 registered profit and 237 were in loss as of 31st March 2021.
There are 34 StCBs with a network of 2,078 branches across 34 states/UTs and 352 DCCBs with 13,610 branches across 20 states/UTs. There are 95,509 PACS and13 SCARDBs (functional) having 791 branches across 13 states and 603 PCARDBs (functional) across 8 states.
