Punjab Cooperation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has given an order to release an amount of Rs 62.68 crore for pensioners and their widows of Punjab State Cooperative Agriculture Development Bank, read a media report.
According to one of the senior officials of the bank, with this decision, about 1130 pensioners and their families will be given pensions and arrears. He further informed that the bank will also get financial assistance from this decision.
It is worth mentioning that the Punjab State Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank had started the pension scheme for its retired employees in the year 1989, which was closed in the year 2013. A petition was filed by the retired employees of the bank against this decision in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
