The dairy behemoth Amul would soon be at work making Indians chocoholic. The company is seriously planning to embark on a chocolate producing business.
Talking to Indian Cooperative,,GCMMF’s Managing Director R S Sodhi said on phone that India offers a huge market for the chocolates which the dairy giant is eager to tap.
Watchers of the Indian chocolate scene say the Indian company could give the international players like Cadbury and Nestle a good run for their money on the home market.
The chocolate business presently in India is worth nearly Rs two thousand crore.
It is pertinent to mention that chocolate is fast emerging as a replacement for the over sugared Indian sweets that are supposed to cause diabetes. It is the prospect of a huge untapped potential that seems to be at the root of Amul deciding to enter the chocolate world.
