The well-known co-operator of Delhi, Laxmi Dass yet again proved that he is indispensable so far as the working of Delhi based Kangra Cooperative Bank is concerned. The Dass led panel made a clean sweep in the election held on Sunday at New Delhi. The results came late at night.
The board of the bank consists of 15 members out of which Chairman and Vice-Chairman were elected unopposed and the elections were held for 13 seats of directors. Over 3500 members cast their votes. 22 candidates were in the fray. In this election, all independent candidates lost by huge margins. The panel of winners was called Kangra Cooperative Bank’s Himachal Pradesh Social Group Panel. It was led by Laxmi Dass.
Soon after the declaration of his name Laxmi Dass was crowned with garlands that nearly choked him. An emotional Dass thanked one and all profusely.
“Besides, we are focusing on decreasing the NPA levels which have risen due to Covid-19. As we are covering almost all the financial parameters to acquire the schedule status and will apply for it in coming days”, said Dass who has been again elected unopposed as the Chairman of the bank.
Amit Kumar Pamasi was appointed as the returning officer to oversee the election process.

It bears recall that 33 nominations were filed at the last date of filing the papers and all papers were found valid. But on the day of withdrawal, 14 withdrew their names including Pawan Guleria and Rajendra Thakur who had filed their nomination papers for contesting Chairman and Vice-Chairman elections respectively.
It is worth mentioning that the Kangra Cooperative Bank is the largest Urban Cooperative of Delhi-NCR. The total business mix of the bank is more than Rs 1800 crore and earned a gross profit of Rs 9.09 crore in the 2020-21 financial year. The bank has 12 branches across Delhi.
