Regional Director of ICA Asia Pacific Balu Aiyer met Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and handed him over the congratulatory message sent for Shah from ICA President Ariel Guarco.
Congratulating Shah on his new role, ICA President wrote “I extended my congratulations to the Minister and government for constituting the new Ministry of Cooperation. These developments we hope will provide a fillip to cooperatives in India.”
The message further read “The Regional Office and its members from India and the region look forward to engaging with the Ministry in sharing experiences and learning from each other. India occupies an important position in ICA and we look forward to its leadership.”
It is learnt that NCUI President Dileep Sanghani was instrumental in organizing this meeting of Balu with the Minister.
It bears recalling that ICA is a global body which represents and serves cooperatives worldwide. Founded in 1895, it has 1 billion members. A total of 318 organisations from 112 countries are members of the International Cooperative Alliance.
ICA has members from all sectors of the economy, namely agriculture, banking, consumer, fisheries, health, housing, insurance, and industry & services.
