Amidst rising onion prices Nafed MD Sanjeev Kumar Chadha has claimed that it is left with about 25,000 tonnes of onion stock in its buffer that will get exhausted in the first week of November, reports PTI.
Always in news when it comes to rising onion prices, Nafed has so far singularly failed to help curb the price of onion across states. It is hovering Rs 75-80 per kg in many parts of the country.
Nafed, which maintains govt buffer stock claims to have released huge quantities from the same but that has failed to check the prices anywhere.
Nafed is offloading onion from the buffer stock in both wholesale and retail markets across the country. It is also offering states at Rs 26 per kg plus transportation charges for retail intervention, he said.
