Karnataka Minister for Cooperation S.T. Somashekhar says the state govt. will constitute cooperative societies that will have Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) as their members. The govt. will provide them with financial support, reports The Hindu.
The minister made this announcement while recently distributing incentives to COVID-19 warriors, the ASHAs, at a function jointly organised by KCC Bank, Dharwad Milk Union and and some other organizations.
Somashekhar revealed that cooperative banks of the State had contributed ?52 crore to the Chief Minister’s COVID Relief Fund.
According to the minister, nearly 42,000 ASHAs have served as COVID warriors in the state putting their lives in harm’s way.
