Gujarat cooperative officials have asked cooperative banks and cooperative credit societies to expedite the distribution of loans under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojna. The total amount given so far is Rs. 14.94 crore, reports Indian Express.
71 percent of loan applicants are from Surat, Ahmedabad and Mehsana districts. Cooperative bodies have given them loans without taking their credit worthiness into account.
The Gujarat govt has employed 260 urban cooperative banks, 18 district cooperative banks and 6,500 credit cooperative societies for this purpose.
The amount of Rs 5000 crore will be given to 10 lakh beneficiaries under the scheme.
