Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress leader was granted bail by a local court in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Ahmedabad District Cooperative led by Ajay Patel had filed a criminal defamation case against him. This case is different from the one filed against Rahul Gandhi.
He was granted bail on a bond of Rs 15,000 after he pleaded not guilty. Surjewala had charged the co-op bank of swapping scrapped notes during demonetization.
The criminal defamation suit was filed in August last year by the ADC Bank, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah is a director.
Rahul Gandhi was in July this year granted bail in another criminal defamation suit filed by the ADC Bank and its chairman Ajay Patel, reports NDTV.
