With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s urging, his Cabinet Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda recently participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan organized by the fertilizer cooperative IFFCO in Bangalore last week.
The event was organized at Ved Vigyana Gurukul in which a large number of students took part.
Sharing the news through social media, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote, “I was extremely happy to contribute some time and do some cleaning of ground along with D V Sadanand Gowda ji, Hon’ble Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers to mark the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan & Sewa Saptah. Let’s join our hands together and keep our Mother Earth clean”.
Gowda also participated in the IFFCO Neem Campaign and planted trees on the occasion. Several dignitaries present on the occasion also distributed saplings of neem tree along with agri-inputs kits among the farmers and students.
IFFCO has planted more than one crore trees in the last two years under IFFCO’s Neem Campaign.

Reacting to Minister’s speech Awasthi tweeted that, “It was nice to listen Shri Sadanand Gowda while addressing farmers, cooperators & villagers during the program. He lauded the efforts of IFFCO in manufacturing & distribution of fertilisers, service to farmers and promoting neem tree plantation. Thanks for his good words.”
Dr U S Awasthi also addressed the farmers & cooperators during the program and shared his views on importance of neem and it’s use in agriculture. Awasthi used the opportunity to laud PM Narendra Modi for his efforts on stopping the use of single use plastic in daily life.
He said it is good to see that our Prime Minister leading by example; reducing single use plastic is a major step towards sustainable development & protecting our environment. Let’s be committed towards a better & clean world and country.
On behalf of IFFCO, the minister distributed scholarship cheques among meritorious students & desktop computers for government school in a few selected villages on this occasion.
The event was kicked off by chanting of soul- moving Maa Swaraswati Vandana by children of Ved Vigyana Gurukul.
