This is a complaint letter received by us. It says how one of the elected Directors connived with the co-op society’s Secretary in getting blank cheques signed by farmers. The society works with the DCCB, Cuttack in Odisha. We are withholding the name of complainant, lest he should be harmed by the vested interests. We urge upon the concerned authorities to look into the matter. Indian Cooperative has all the necessary details-Editor
We are reproducing the letter of the victim without changing a word. His personal details, that he shared with us are, however being withheld.
Dear Sir,
It is with deep regret that I inform you about “Firik Dandi Co-operative Society” which collects farmers’ documents for loan sanction from Cuttack Central Co-operative Bank, Branch Rajnagar, Kendrapara district.
The poor farmers are supposed to be issued with pass books and cheque books but the same are kept with Firik Dandi Co-operative Society and farmers are made to sign on blank cheques. Pass books and cheque books are not given to the farmers.
It appears that Firik Dandi Co-operative Society’s Director of committee Mr Arun Kumar Patra and Secretary Mr Raghunath Pradhan are up to some mischief. We farmers fear that the funds allotted to farmers are withdrawn by them through blank cheques which they get signed by farmers.
Sir, this malpractice has been going on for quite some time. On enquiry made by farmers, the Director and the Secretary make all kinds of excuses and refuse to give a single penny to the farmers.
For your perusal my case detail are attached herewith.
I managed to take photo copies of the cheques when the director and secretary took my signature on the blank cheque.
You are requested to kindly stop this corrupt practice by “Firik Dandi Co-operative Society” and get justice for the poor farmers. You are requested to send a team to enquire into these shady practices.
Thanking You
Yours’s faithfully
Victim
