A daily news outlet reports the apex bank officers in Raipur in Chhattisgarh held a demonstration during the lunch hour demanding a review of their salary pending since two years for acceptance at the state level.
They protested the delay in the matter for the third day as well wearing black bands around their arms while carrying out their official duties. If their demands are not fulfilled, they will go on an indefinite strike from 25th February, they have warned.
Sources say in the event of a strike, programs such as paddy procurement and loan waiver scheme are likely to get affected.
Apart from employees of all the branches of the apex bank, employees of district cooperative central banks took a mass leave on 18th February. If their demands are not fulfilled, they will go on an indefinite strike from 25th February.
A large number of office bearers including presidents and general secretaries of various bank employees unions have lent their support to the apex bank officers’ protest.
