Cooperative Banks of India (COBI) is organizing an international cooperative conference in Budapest in Hungary. Several cooperators from India have gone to attend the event. Ghanshyambhai H Amin who was unanimously re-elected as the Chairman of COBI recently, is heading the delegation.
COBI which is the apex body of all banks-co-op banks, UCBs, Land Mortgage, etc have no license of its own, though this handicap does not deter it from holding international conference once every year.
Last year COBI conducted a National Seminar on “Need and Importance of Adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Digitalization in Cooperative Banks”, at Stockholm in Sweden. An year earlier, the destination was Berlin, Germany.
Amin talks in terms of adopting cutting edge technologies in the co-operative banking sector. He told Indian Cooperative that it is his wish that co-ops banks in the country should adopt Mobile banking, digital technology and all other tech devices one hears about these days. International conferences come handy in understanding the best practices in the banking sector, he underlined.
Amin also vowed to make renewed efforts to secure license for the Cooperative Bank of India (COBI)- an issue that has somehow throttled the growth of this apex body.
