Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (KDCMPUL) held its 72nd AGM where its Chairman Ramsinh Parmar claimed that the dairy co-op has given the highest milk procurement prices to farmers in the country.
Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (KDCMPUL) also called Amul Dairy has seven lakh farmers as its members who are linked with 1,200 village level milk societies in Anand and Kheda districts. The total pay out to farmers has been Rs 325 crore.
Parmar said that in the last seven years, both the price paid to farmers and milk procured from them has doubled while the dairy’s turnover has tripled, reports Times of India.
The dairy which has clocked Rs 6,256 crore annual turnover in financial year 2017-18 has witnessed 10% growth in its turnover compared to previous year when it had registered Rs 5,700 crore turnover.
The dairy union is likely to set up two new plants including one in Pune in Maharashtra and another near Kolkata in West Bengal. Amul Dairy also plans to expand its milk processing capacity in Anand and cheese manufacturing capacity at its Khatraj plant.
