The National Cooperative Union of India convened a national level Conference of State Cooperative Unions in which several Chairmen, Managing Directors and CEOs of states participated last Monday.
In a press release sent by the apex co-op body, it was said “one of the objectives of NCUI is to strengthen its member institutions particularly the State Cooperative Unions whose main role is to provide Cooperative Education to the members of various cooperative societies in states and to play effective role in strengthening the Cooperative Education and Training Programmes implemented by the State Cooperative Unions.
The conference was attended by representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Manipur, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President NCUI in his welcome address urged cooperators to participate in order to strengthen the cooperative education and training institutions. He emphasized that to strengthen the Cooperative Education and trainings, it is the need of the hour to focus on the problems of the Unions and co-operatives within their respective states.
Yadav also dwelt on the lack of the Government funding for assisting the Cooperative Education Training Programme. He urged upon all the states to work together to sustain the Cooperative Education and Training.Dignitaries and VIP’s from various states were present on the occasion.
Satya Narayana, Chief Executive in his remarks said the Central Sector Scheme on Cooperative Education and Training for assisting Junior Cooperative Training Centres in the Country needs to be strengthened for effective implementation of Cooperative Education Training in states.
Major issues that came up for the discussion included acquainting the state officials with the latest schemes and policies and programmes of the Central Government being implemented through NCUI, NCDC, NABARD and other concerned departments for the promotion & development of Cooperative Education and training in India.
Other topics were skill development programme and trainers of training programme as well as chalking out suitable strategies for effective implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the cooperative education and training programmes.
The conference called for providing effective education and training in all the states, to improve the quality of the services of Cooperative Education Fund and increase the assistance from the government.
It was felt that NCUI and State Cooperative Unions should work together to upgrade the institutions by improving the latest technology and providing need based support to their efforts to overcome the problems in Cooperative education and training. The participants interacted in all the deliberations.
The recommendations as suggested by members will be sent to all the State Cooperative Unions for their effective implementation and development, read the press release.
