Hyderabad Agriculture Co-operative Association (HACA) has drawn barbs from the consumer forum for supplying spurious soya bean seeds, reports Deccan Chronicle.
A farmer who had been sold spurious soya seeds by the association told the forum that he had suffered considerable financial losses, hardship and mental agony.
The consumer forum found merit in the complaint and ordered HACA to pay a compensation of Rs 1.4 lakh with an interest of 9 per cent per annum. The forum also ordered to pay charges for damage amounting to Rs 20,000.
