Mahesh Kumar Gupta has been re-elected as the Chairman of Delhi based Vaish Cooperative New bank. The polling was held last week in the premises of H.M.D.A.V. Senior Secondary School, Darya Ganj in New Delhi.
While talking to this correspondent Chandan Sen Gupta who had been appointed as the returning officer to oversee the election process said “Mahesh Kumar Gupta got 1472 votes whereas his rival Nikunj Sharma got only 92 votes. About 1600 members cast their votes”.
“The election had been peacefully conducted and the result was announced Sunday late evening”, he informed.
While the election for the post of Chairman was held, all board members including two Vice-Chairmen, two women directors and 10 directors were elected unopposed. Kamal Keshore and Vijay Narain Gupta were elected unopposed as the Vice-Chairmen of the bank.
Readers would recall that earlier the filling of nominations was held on 20 February 2018 and 21 members had filed their nomination papers. After scrutiny, all 21 nomination papers had been found to be valid”, he informed.
“But on the day of withdrawal as five members withdrew their names only 16 candidates were left in the fray.
After the declaration of the result, Gupta was profusely garlanded and cheered by his supporters. An emotional Gupta expressed thanks to his supporters.
Mahesh Kumar Gupta was averse to talking to the media during the election but after his victory he was suddenly more than willing to talk. He said while he had been re-elected as the Chairman by a huge margin. He claimed this was entirely due to good work done by him.
“The new Board of the Bank will take oath on 16th March and reiterate their resolve to take the bank to newer heights”, he informed.
The term of the board is for three years. Vaish Cooperative New Bank is having 11 branches in the National Capital Region.
