I am Veena Jayant Divey residing in Gundecha Heights, Kanjurmarg (W), Mumbai. A few people have questioned me on whether any person who has physically assaulted a society member can be an office bearer of the committee?
I do not know where to get an answer for this as it is logical that such person will only create fear in the society rather than allow a peaceful living. Ours is a registered society with the State cooperative societies.

For a member to become an office bearer he/she has to be elected by members in elections to be conducted under the order of the State cooperative Election Authority.
If a member is elected, whether he assaulted any member is immaterial. Co-operative housing society is a democratic enterprise and members are supreme.
There are 33% voters Presidential Election who declared themselves as facing criminal charges. Unless they are held guilty by Court of law they are innocent.
I hope you got an answer.
