There is good news for the cooperative world as the NDA nominee for President of the country Bihar Governor Ramnath Kovind is an untiring advocate of cooperatives playing a major role in the uplift of the weaker sections of society.
It bears recall that BJP president Amit Shah announced Monday Bihar governor and senior BJP leader Ramnath Kovind would be the candidate of the BJP-led ruling NDA for the top job.
Kovind was born on October 1, 1945 at Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. With academic qualifications such as B.Com, LLB from Kanpur University, Kovind has had a successful career as a lawyer.
Last year in a function of Biscomaun in Patna Kovind sat close to eight hours in a cooperative function and said cooperative can ameliorate the conditions of the poor in the country.
The function was attended by the top flights of the cooperative world including the state cooperation minister Alok
He also lauded the role being played by the PACS in the state and felt confident that the movement would empower women also. Congratulating the state govt for developing software to achieve the dream of online submission of forms for the PACS membership, he said that “SABKA VIKAS AND SABKA SATH” development of all together with all is possible by adopting the cooperative model extensively.
Without commenting on his candidature perhaps due to unclear stand of Samajwadi Party, Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President of the apex body NCUI praised the NDA nominee as a person. Earlier, in Patna Yadav had said he knew Kovind since long and also knows his commitment towards the have-nots of society. Yadav is currently in Kolkata in connection with a Parliamentary Committee’s assignment.
Humble and honest persons with sincerity of all noble causes in life are bound to be less known to community as they do not need to resort to “popularity gimmicks” for achieving their goals in life.
