The veteran cooperator Bhagwati Prasad is being nominated as the regional representative to the Cooperative Law Committee. The decision was taken by the ICA-AP Regional Board which met in Colombo last month.
In a letter signed by the Regional Director of ICA A-P Balasubramanian G. Iyer, he writes ” I am pleased to inform you that the ICA-AP Regional Board at its meeting in Colombo on June 16 agreed to recommend your name as the regional representative to the Cooperative Law Committee. My congratulations!”
Reacting to the news Bhagwat Prasad told Indian Cooperative “This is a great honor for me to be the part of the Global body as a regional representative of Cooperative Law Committee from Asia Pacific.”
In his letter Balu writes further “The decision taken by the board was in consideration to your stellar experience in the area of cooperative law and the leadership you have provided to the cooperative movement. They believe you will be able to put across well the regional perspective when input is sought by the Committee.”
The other person recommended from the region is, Mr Untung Tri Basuki, who currently serves as the Secretary General, National Commission of Human Rights, Republic of Indonesia.
Readers would recall that Prasad served as Chief Executive of NCUI for a long time. Based in Lucknow he assists Mudit Verma who was earlier GC member on the board of NCUI and is currently on the board of NAFCUB. He runs a cooperative body known as Uttar Pradesh Vitta Sahakari Nigam.
I had the proud privilege of working with Mr.Bhagawati Prasad, when he was CEO of NCUI. A simple, and an upright officer, he was a dedicated cooperative leader too. As Director of VAMNICOM he had brought about innumerable innovative changes in the training systems.
I join millions of ardent cooperators in congratulating him on his new elevation.
Congratulations sir. We wish all success in your endeavors. May God bless you with long and healthy life to serve the cooperative movement.
