Dilip Bhai Sanghani Chairman NAFSCOB the apex body of state cooperative banks along with other office bearers of the federation paid a courtesy call on the new Kerala Chief Minister Vijayan Pinarayi in Thiruvanthapuram. The meeting took place immediately after the oath taking ceremony.
NAFSCOB MD Bhima Subrahmanyam who was with his chairman while the meeting took place posted the news as well as photographs of the meeting on his face book wall.
Later talking to Indian Cooperative Sanghani said ”it was a courtesy call but we did discuss cooperative briefly.”
Sanghani and other top cooperative leaders are camping in Kerala for last four days to attend a Nabard programme. All the district cooperative banks and several of the cooperative societies are participating in this, informed Sanghani.
Eighty percent of the expense is being met by the Nadard and rest by the local cooperative bodies, he added.
Marxist leader Pinarayi Vijayan 71, has assumed office as Kerala’s 22nd Chief Minister.
A source says apart from congratulating Pinarayi Vijayan on his electoral victory, NAFSCOB chairman discussed issues related to the cooperative movement in Kerala.
A former minister in Narendra Modi’s Gujarat Cabinet Sanghani is also the vice-president of NAFED along with Sunil Kumar Singh of Biscomaun. He represents hard-core centre-of-right politics inimical to the ascendant govt in Kerala.
