Punjab govt will spend a huge amount of money on the Mai Bhago Women Empowerment Scheme launched by the cooperative department to make women financially independent. Already a couple of thousands of women have benefitted from the scheme, reports Daily Tribune.
Official sources say the scheme covers dairy, embroidery, beauty parlour, computer, chutney, achaar and murabba-making activities.
Officials added under the cooperative movement, women are being provided loans on easy terms. Self- groups are also being formed in the villages. With the help of KVK, Kapurthala and Markfed, training camps are also being held at places for the women. The district administration was planning a campaign for women to be members of cooperative banks, officials said.
