A team of four which included IFFCO Director Aditya Yadav, Tarun Bhargava, Yogendra Singh and Harshendra Vardhan is in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina to attend meeting of ICA’s Youth Participation in Joint Leadership Circle. Charles Gould is its convener while Dame Pauline chairs the meeting.
The idea of Leadership Circle, a concept aimed at training new generation cooperators is a brainchild of DG Charles Gould. About 10 top-notch young cooperators from across the world are part of this Circle and they meet once or twice a year. The meeting is presided over by the President of ICA, Dame Pauline in the present case.
To get a birth on the Leadership Circle one has to pay annual fee of 30,000 US dollar. It is double edged as it both earns money for ICA and prepares an energetic batch of young cooperators, said a source who has worked with the ICA in the past.
Participating actively in the meeting the IFFCO team presented “Integrated Communication Strategy on Sustainable
Harsha’s Face Book wall posted” Was Really A Great Moment to Present IFFCO‘s Integrated Communication Strategy on Sustainable Agriculture & Integrated Cooperative Development. The ICA Members Appreciated The Move. We can actually drive the Global Campaign for this.”
In another post Harsha wrote about atmosphere prevailing there. He said there is a massive heartburning and disappointment in the wake of announcement of resignation by the ICA President Pauline Green.
ICA, meanwhile has several pressing issues in hand such as business & trade promotion by coops worldwide. Green was a big support in this, said one of the insiders. Meaningful collaboration with ILO, FAI, World Farmers Organisation for food sustainability are some other issues the ICA is seized of. It is being said that the UN sustainability goals will be adopted by the end of the year in Global Meet.
Interestingly, one survey will be devoted to selecting a Coop capital in the world. The Coop biz report is likely to be tabled in the AGM in November in Turkey.A major achievement is a worldwide acceptance of Coop marque by cooperatives. Iffco has already done that, said a proud Harsh.
Co-operatives from across the world are adopting the co-operative marque and the .coop domain as part of their online identity. Co-ops from 88 countries have signed up to use the marque so far.
The Marque is intended to complement the online co-operative identity, which is secured by having a .coop top level domain identity. A .coop extension on emails or web address helps to promote co-operative enterprises, as well as the co-operative way of doing businesses.
