I live in Mumbai. The name of my society is Link Palace CHS Ltd. We had our new committee elected on 18th August 2013. Do we need to conduct an election now as per the new bye laws? Please enlighten me on this.

Your Committee was elected on 18th August 2013 (unless it is a very first Provisional Committee) is illegal. It has violated Sub-Section 4 of Section 166 of MCS Act as all Committees elections of which were due after 31 3 2013 were to stay in office till the State Cooperative Election Authority (SCEA) which was to be appointed as per new Section 73CB (1) which came in to force on 15- 02-2013, geniuses their election in accordance with Election Procedure to be announced by the State (Since done on 14 09 2014).
Your Committee may approach the Dy. Registrar of the Ward with Voters list who will organize election.
