I have been exposed to a range of cooperative activities hitherto unknown to me by joining this course, said one of the participants from Mauritius who came to attend the 3-month course titled “Diploma in Cooperative Education” imparted by the National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE), an arm of NCUI.
Friday was the last day of their stay in which Chief Executive of NCUI Dr Dinesh participated and heard the participants express their experiences about the course. The participants numbering 37 came from various states of the country as well as from four neighbouring countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mauritius and Bhutan.
It was for the first time that Sri Lanka and Mauritius came to participate. The students who are actually people working with cooperatives in their respective locations were enriched by various course modules which included visits to different locations, informed Dr Dinesh.
They visited dairy cooperative, Urban Cooperative Bank and Sugar cooperative to have firsthand knowledge of working of a successful cooperative. They also had to write about five examinations in their three month’ stay.
“We were given computer tests, different kinds of assignments as well as the task of preparing a project report”, informed one of the participants to Indian Cooperative. It was indeed a very enriching experience, she added.
The course was summed up by the NCCE Director Dr V K Dubey with the words “ my Gurudakshina would be translating the course knowledge into practical situations. Take my phone number and seek my advice if you have ever any doubt in future too, he added.
