In the polls to the Bhopal district cooperative bank which was slated for Tuesday there were 23 candidates in the fray fighting for 10 positions and seeking votes from 33 voters.
For another position, there are 52 voters likely to choose from among three candidates. That is to say, for 11 positions altogether there are 26 candidates and 85 voters. So much so after the withdrawal of nominations on 30th September, candidates are moving around with voters who are supporting them so their opponents could not come in contact with them.
There are accusations being hurled around that voters are being kidnapped and offered all kinds of blandishments. Two out of 13 directors have got elected unopposed. Out of 26 candidates for 11 positions 10 of them are rebels from the BJP.
Monday the whole day the BJP leaders were busy persuading the rebels to return to the fold but not one of them agreed to withdraw from the fray. Former legislator Bhaktpal Singh who is considered a strong contender for presidentship is facing a tough fight.
