Indian cooperative .com was almost prophetic when it wrote in an earlier piece that Monday would be the last day of Mrs Anita Manchanda as Chief Executive of NCUI. In a resolution passed by Governing Council on the same day, Dr Dinesh Mishra, an educationist was vetoed to be the next Chief Executive of NCUI.
Dr Dinesh Mishra is presently on deputation as Advisor in All India Council of Technical Education. Originally, he is deputy Registrar of Sanskrit Vidya Peeth under Union HRD Ministry.
A man with wide exposure and learning, he was earlier with Steel Authority of India and is said to have gathered experience in cooperative matters there.
The resolution passed by GC will later result in drafting of an appointment letter after which Dr Mishra will take over. It may take a month or a half.
The GC put its seal on the decision of appointment committee which consisted of NCUI President, Vice-President, Central Registrar and an expert. If sources are to be believed, the expert in the team still wanted to retain Mrs Anita Manchanda as Chief Executive but the rest of the members of appointment committee prevailed over him and selected Dr Dinesh Mishra as the next man.
Indiancooperative.com has been continuously raising the issue of non-appointment of a regular Chief Executive for last two years. It is happy that the matter stands resolved.
Chief Executive of NCUI is a very crucial post as he has to keep an eye on the growth of cooperative movement and lend strength to any small cooperative activities taking place anywhere in the country.
Let us hope the Dr Mishra will fulfil the expectations and act as true co-operator.

To
The President of India
With due deference, We beg to draw your kind attention to the fact that We, the staff of Calcutta Wholesale Con.Co.op Society Ltd of Which Head Office is located at 113/1/1A ,Hazra Road, Kolkata -26, are in great distress. Being appointed through West Bengal Cooperative Service Commission treated on par with WB Public Service Commission in status and position, we are deprived of the status of Commission. Our salary is from TE 4000-/-p.m to TE 6000/-.After 30 years manager of this concern is getting Rs 6000/ p.m. Whereas the group D staff of state government are drawing Rs10,000/ p.m .The clerkship examination of PSC is like that of WB Cooperative Service Commission.Yet we are not getting at least salary of Group D staff of state government . Our status is grocery worker. If the society had advertised for recruitment , we would have not applied for the same. There are nine government officers in our society . They are given salary by the government of West Bengal as they are recommended from West Bengal PSC.What is our future? The society may wind up at any time because it is in loss for several years . It is not possible for the society to give us salary by retail selling rice, dal, mustard oil etc .The central government should provide us with various projects to survive. We demand immediate withdrawal of our service from here to Cooperative sectors attached to state government,Cooperation department in Writer’s building, local cooperative Bank as per our address & reservation in state government service, age relaxation in any government service. There is no environment of work in this society . Our duty hours is from 10 a.m to 7.30 p.m in total violation of labour act whereas duty hours of PSC recommended clerks is from 10 a.m to 5.pm.What is our future ?We already informed the secretary of Cooperative service commission of the fact .He informed us verbally that it is government policy, they have nothing to do. In view of the situation we have no option but to commit suicide if no redress is made in this respect from the present state government.
