Cooperative banks help Women’s group in HP

Cooperative banks have been issuing soft loans to the women’s self-help groups in Lug Valley near Kullu in Himachal to lift the entire area into den of milk production.

Himachal government has already Doodh Ganga Project which has got shot in its arm by women’s effort.

Women’s self-help groups have helped transform picturesque a popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, into a hub of milk production.

The enterprising women have banded into over 100 self-help groups that collect about 5,000 litres of milk daily and travel 15 km to Kullu in Himachal Road Transport

Corporation and private buses and maxi cabs to sell their produce.

They sell it to dhabas, hotels, residents and Manali hotels at Rs 16 per litre. Pure milk products like paneer and dahi are also sold by the Lug Valley Milk Union.
