Ajay Patel-a well-known cooperator from Gujarat and the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank was honoured with the Shri Arvindbhai Maniar Sahakarita award recently in a function held in Ahmadabad.
“Patel was honored during the 5th national conference of Sahakar Bharati”, wrote the newly elected President of Sahakar Bharati Jyotindra Mehta on his Facebook wall.
The GSCB is not only the Apex Bank for the State of Gujarat, but a premier Co-operative Bank in the country. It has initiated steps for strengthening the cooperative credit structure & cooperative banking sector in the State. The bank serves as a factor responsible for keeping cooperatives in balance in Gujarat.
Readers could recall that Indian Cooperative had done a success story on the bank last year.
A three tier system of rural credit consisting of Apex Bank at State-level, Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) at the district-level and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) at the village level is in place to meet the short-term and medium-term credit requirements of agriculture economy.
