Mamata supports fertilizer subsidy

Posted on 08 February 2012 by Dipak Kumar

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called upon the Centre to give fertilizer subsidy to farmers and flayed the Left parties for caving in to the UPA government’s decision in 2009 to decontrol the fertilizer prices.

The decontrol of prices paved the way for increase in the prices of the vital agricultural inputs, she added.

Banerjee was in Nadia district holding development review meeting with district officials. She also attended a programme to launch some local trains.

She expressed displeasure over the way the three-tier panchayat system in the state  was  functioning  and held the communists  responsible for making the zilla parishads non-functional.

For whatever wrongs The CM of WB observes, it is worth its while if strong remedies are recommended which are in line with national copulsions and global economic trends. She had been operating as a National Leader for quite some time, and now trying to be a big State leader, her policies seem to be travelling in reverse gear. From outside the state and on national front, at least that is what the scenario looks like. The State’s interest are definitely higher than any sectoral interest but nationa;l Pride has no comaprison and Gobal trends can not be fought from a corner of a State.
