Posted on 10 February 2012 by Parasnath Chaudhary

Dynamism of the cooperative sector in Haryana is unmistakable. Most of the cooperative organizations in the state are continuously growing.  The Haryana state cooperative supply and marketing federation (HAFED) , for example, has notched up  a net profit of nearly 41 crore on a turnover of 5,489 crore during 2010.

Being the largest food grain procuring agency in Haryana, it undertakes various agro-processing activities for rice, barley, sugarcane, turmeric powder and mustard oil.

The cooperation minister Mr Sangwan said that the pace of activities of HAFED would be accelerated so that farmers would get maximum facilities and remunerative prices.

HAFED has been declared as the State Nodal Agency by the Food Corporation of India. HAFED had warehouse or storage capacity of 10.50 lakh tonne, open plinths storage capacity of 14.81 lakh tonne, 11 rice mills, two animal feed plants, one pesticides plant, two mustard oil plants, one barley malt plant, sugar mill, turmeric plant and wheat seed processing plant.
